What’s happening?

7 Day Circuit Breaker Lockdown

Dear Families,

Acting Premier, James Merlino, today announced 7-day Circuit breaker restrictions for all of Victoria.

Friday 28/5 is a pupil-free day while staff prepare for remote learning next week.

Bundarra Primary School will be closed to students except for those of essential workers next week on the following days: Monday 31st May, Tuesday 1st June, Wednesday 2nd June and Thursday 3rd June.

Students will have access to remote learning via Seesaw. Logins have been sent home with students.

We are SUPER prepared for whatever comes next, staff have added things to SeeSaw ready for next week. Communication will be through Seesaw, Skoolbag App and Email.

Parents and carers who are essential workers seeking to access on-site learning must contact the school to obtain a request form.

We appreciate your support and patience as we work through this time. We got this!

We’ll add details to social media and the website, so check back here for more.

Please contact the school if you need more information or see our facebook page!

KEEPING EVERYONE SAFE

Please see facebook for a video showing all we are doing to keep everyone safe at Bundarra.

These measures include:

  • Following DET directives as they are released
  • Different entry and exit points (socially distancing staff, students and families)
  • No playing in yard before school
  • Handwashing before, after eating and after recess and lunch
  • Timetable staggered so we have less students outside at any time
  • Contact parents immediately if a child feels unwell (we always do this, but now check temps)
  • Specialist subjects completed in usual classrooms- less use of shared learning materials
  • Cleaning twice a day
  • Sanitation stations and handwashing materials available in every classroom
  • Masks and PPE provided to all staff
  • Students can wear masks if they wish.

STOP DROP AND GO ZONES

I would like to remind parents about student drop off and collection. The processes around this are our efforts to put DET directives in place. They are to keep our students and community safe. We still need to be mindful of social distancing when it comes to the adults in our community. With this in mind I ask you to please be aware of:

  • Your “STOP, DROP and GO Zone”.
  • The importance of patience when collecting students at the end of the day- we are all getting used to the new system and there will be delays. We are trying our best!
  • Social distancing when attending Bundarra- if students can bring their lunch with them in the morning that’s great. We are not to have extra adults in the school at the moment.
  • Letting us know if something isn’t working- we can’t fix things if we don’t know about them. (Please call the school and we can sort something out!)

Health and Wellbeing

To support the health and wellbeing of all our students and staff, our school will continue an enhanced cleaning routine and will encourage frequent hand washing. If your child is ill or is feeling unwell, they must not attend school. They must remain home and seek medical advice.

While the Chief Health Officer has advised that students will not be required to maintain physical distancing at school, there will be a number of important changes to our school operations, consistent with health advice. This will apply until further notice. I will provide more detail about our local school context as soon as possible, but it is important to note that changes will include:

  • altered arrangements for student drop off and pick up, including use of the STOP, DROP and GO ZONE.
  • requirements for access to the school site using COVIDSAFE check in processes for visits longer than 15 minutes.
  • Assemblies will be open to the school community, but will be held in the undercover area until further notice. COVIDSAFE Check in is required by all attending.

More information about the return to school and coronavirus (COVID-19) can be found on the Department’s website, which will continue to be updated: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/department/Pages/coronavirus.aspx

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this time.

Student Reports Semester 1, 2021

We will be reporting against the Victorian Curriculum in all subject areas in June 2021.

Additionally, for the first time ever we are reporting against the Victorian Aboriginal languages curriculum. It’s worth noting that the Dhauwurd Wurrung language instruction is NEW to our school, so while we are reporting against the Victorian Curriculum, it is expected that senior student may not meet expected standards by the reporting period. We trust our school community will understand this.

GRIP Leadership

The annual GRIP leadership Conference is to be held in MAY, and our school captains and vide captains will attend this event. Student voice is an important part of learning, as it helps students take ownership over their social, emotional and academic growth.

Education Week

Activities at school will include HISTORY WEEK, Numeracy network re-launch, Music Showcase and so much more…

Last term’s Theme weeks were such a success we are doing it again! The concept is the entire week’s teaching and learning is all linked to particular theme. In this case- HISTORY. Teachers are planning engaging activities to meet Victorian Curriculum standards, while we are having fun!

SciTech visit

During Education Week (Wednesday 26th May) Shyam Drury (from SciTech) will again be visiting us to assist with maths and numeracy. We look forward to a fun day working in classrooms and with teacher on planning for effective numeracy instruction. We welcome teachers from St Johns to the day. After school a relaunch (post remote learning) of the Numeracy Network is to be held at Bundarra for numeracy teachers from all our local schools!

Student Led Conferences

These will be held in individual classrooms in the last week of Term. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their achievements with parents, explaining their progress. A timetable will be sent home to ensure everyone has time to see their student’s conference.
